Hey Folks,

It’s been ages since the last update and there has been a lot that has happened and so much stuff coming up in 2012 so let’s get started and maybe everyone can help me clear out some stuff before I have to turn my inventory numbers in. Up first is gonna be the sales and promotions….

All distributed non-hhbtm/twbos product is going to be 50% off until January 1st.

Also the first 50 orders will get a HHBTM catalog with artwork by Andy Hart that has a digital download of the label roster 2011.

Lots of catalog will be deleted in 2012 so some titles might not be available at the end of January 2012. (a few titles the license will be running out). There are also a few titles that are just not going to be repressed or it might be sometime before they are repressed….. anyway here are a few things I wouldn’t hold off picking up much longer.

Birddog – A Sweet & Bitter Fancy CD
Eux Autres – Cold City CD
Sarandon – Completists Library CD
Velcro Stars – Hiroshima’s Revenge CD
Love Letter Band – Fear Not My Brothers CD
Sourpatch – Crushin’ LP (only 3 copies left)
Afternoon Naps – Parade LP (only 1 copy left)
Sweater Girls – Pretty When You Smile 7″ (only 10 copies left)
only Sourpatch LP and Afternoon Naps LP will be repressed out of all those…….

The Oh OK “The Complete Reissue” LP is now available for just $12.00 This reissue gathers both the 7″ & 12″ , a live show, and two newly recorded tracks. For those not in the know Oh OK were / are Linda Hopper (Magnapop), Lynda Stipe (Hetch Hetchy / Flash to Bang Time), and for a short while Matthew Sweet. The band did all their writing and recording during the early 80′s and played just a handful of shows between Athens, GA and New York. Their sound has that bomp and stomp drive that made early 80′s Athens an actual scene, but their music was more on the minimal side ala Marine Girls, Young Marble Giants, or Beat Happening but dancey.

Tunabunny pretty much blew up over the fall opening for Throwing Muses, playing the Athens PopFest and CMJ, getting featured as band to watch at CMJ by Village Voice, NPR, New York Mag, altmusic, and Brooklyn Vegan. They landed tons of glowing reviews from Big Takeover, San Francisco Weekly, Everett True, and the list goes on. They are now gearing up to go over to the UK for a 10 date tour with Shrag and to play the London PopFest in February. Looks like they will have a split single with Shrag coming up as well. To celebrate this i’m doing the 7″ giveaway above and I have taken 3 of the test pressings of the Tunabunny / Hulaboy split 12″ which has been long out of print and am having the band hand decorate the sleeves. This is gonna be a first come first served kinda deal. These will be shipping end of this week for whoever snaps them up and what a deal at $15 a pop.

Sourpatch have a new album “Stagger & Fade” currently at the plant with a late February release date. Eleven new songs and a huge tour is being lined up for March as I type this. The pre-order this time is a bit crazy. This time around we are doing vinyl only, sorry no CDs for this one, but it’s not like anyone is buying CDs anymore. The pre-order will consist of the LP w/ digital download, a sourpatch coffee cup, a button, and a silkscreen sourpatch patch for you messenger bag or old school denim jacket. The coffee cup will be mailed in a separate box so the shipping on this one can get a little crazy for you overseas folks. Only 38 of these pre-orders are even available, so act fast on this one. The coffee cup button and patch will mail the first week of 2012 while the album will ship in mid February.

In other Sourpatch news, the band is raising money for a new tour van – check out http://igg.me/p/52916?a=326497 for information on how to donate to their cause and get some fun stuff in the process!

Loads of new videos have been added as well. Tunabunny made three new videos, Sourpatch has a new one for the lead single off the record “Cynthia Ann”, and Fishboy have yet another video from Classic Creeps, this time it’s “Aspen2K”. All videos can be found in the media section of the site.

Look for new records in 2012 by Bunnygrunt, Afternoon Naps, the Smittens, and Tunabunny debut LPs by Sweater Girls and Eureka California, and Orca Team, and reissues by Joe Jack Talcum along with countless singles. Also some big big news both for HHBTM and sister label This Will Be Our Summer.

until next time, and I’m gonna get better with doing these updates in 2012. Mike Turner HHBTM CMFIC.

The new Marshmallow Coast album “Seniors and Juniors Strikes Back” will be back from the pressing plant any day now. I know you are telling yourself, but I already own Seniors and Juniors, but this is Seniors and Juniors re-recorded in the style of Andy’s last album “Phreak Phantasy”. So imagine Seniors and Juniors but with drum machines and lots of samples and keyboards plus a few new songs. If you want just the CD it will be $7.00, however if you want the de-luxe pre-order version it’s $22.00. What comes with the de-luxe pre-order you ask. Why you get not only the CD, but you also get a 8×10 painting painted by Andy Gonzales along with some buttons and other fun stuff we might throw in the envelope. And before you ask, no this is only available on CD currently. Orders will ship out the first week of March, and Andy is only able to do 25 paintings.

Sweater Girls are from sunny Los Angeles, but they are dreaming of England and praying for rain. These sweet shoulder-shrug songs may tread a well-worn path of jangle guitars and wistful vocals, but there’s a unique sadness in their 60’s-sounding pop. This is the sound of growing up surrounded by beaches and eating disorders, surounded by hollow people who aspire to a particularly hollow kind of celebrity. Sweater Girls are the kids who rebelled by wearing cardigans in 85-degree heat, who drank hot cappucinos in the desert and refused to wear a bikini for anyone. Theirs is a beauty that is carefully guarded and belongs only to themselves. Shipping on Monday is the new single “Pretty When You Smile” backed with “Return Address” and “Summer Girls”….. this 7″ for those who get in early and do a pre-order will get a scented silkscreened sachet as well for just a few dollars more. Only 30 of the sachets are being made, so don’t dilly dally when it comes to ordering.

Hey Folks,
It’s been ages since the last HHBTM update. Not been slacking, just had a super crazy summer. Moved into a cottage home in March to find out it had rats, then moved into a loft in May to non-stop leaking pipes and 4 floods that cost us loads of furniture. Then there was the Athens PopFest that went off without a hitch to much surprise. Then Leslie and I found a new place in August that we just love back in our old neighborhood before we started all this moving. So with that things slowed a bit on the release front, but now the label is in full swing once again. So here’s the news…….

NEW RELEASES
HHBTM121 – Flash to Bang Time “Lead Balloon” 7”
The name Flash to Bang Time refers to the amount of time that passes between seeing the light from a nuclear detonation and actually hearing it. The occurrence is a natural visual-aural disconnect, but for the band, the visual and aural go hand in hand. It’s not quite synesthesia, more like trying to make a movie soundtrack. Flash to Bang Time has been floating around Athens for nearly ten years as Linda Stipe’s post Hetch Hetchy & Oh Ok project, but 2010 / 2011 will be the year that folks outside Athens discover this mysterious band. It’s super tough to pin them down to one sound as they can go from ambient drone cello based songs, to a rocker, to bubblegum pop , and back to acid test within just a few numbers. This 7″ also features Linda Hopper of Magnapop, Holiday & Oh Ok on guest vocals. Limited to 300 copies in silkscreened sleeves. comes with digital download.

HHBTM122 – Tunabunny “Tunabunny” LP / Cassette
Tunabunny sounds like nothing you’ve ever heard before. Their debut album walks an amphetamine path between Pere Ubu and The Raincoats. Three girls, one guy, and a synthesizer sitting on a carpet covered in paint and the sprawled out works of Julio Cortazar, Tunabunny has fallen down the rabbit hole and is begging you to follow, even as they doubt your own existence. Inspired by such cult artists as The Beatles and Norah Jones, Tunabunny’s debut album, Tunabunny, is already the clear favorite to bring home dozens of grammy award nominations and to be the ridicule of blogs all over the southeast. M.I.A. is already questioning their authenticity. Neil Diamond doesn’t believe they’re actually from the street. Yoko Ono is going to think they’re fantastic! Growing up in Athens, Georgia surrounded by a surplus of instruments and boredom, Tunabunny set out to remind people that pop/rock music shouldn’t be about technical ability or social networking. They’re wrong of course. Pop/rock music in the 21 st century is a played-out corpse being skullfucked by overprivileged boys and girls hoping to manufacture a personality for themselves out of something that other people think is cool. That is why Tunabunny thinks of pop/rock as something that should be destroyed, or at the very least subverted, but would probably be better for everyone involved if it simply ceased to exist. The members of Tunabunny are interested in revolution, which, contrary to popular thought, ceased to exist in the pop/rock world a long time ago, even as a latent impulse. As such, Tunabunny wonders just what it is doing here, and what exactly it hopes to accomplish. LP comes with digital download. [there is a pre-order version that comes with a large t-shirt and flexi 7” of some covers of a band that is making loads of money off not caring and being rather slack on a reunion tour. This shirt will crack you up. Sorry I can’t post a photo of it for possible legal reasons.]

HHBTM125 – Sourpatch “Mira Mija” 7”
Four friends switching off song writing duties over 4 tracks on what might be the best single this year. I could make up some crap to try to sell you this record, but I think Keenan Dowers of the Three Imaginary Girls sums this band up perfectly. “I’ve been a fan of this band since last San Francisco popfest when they blew me away with their Tiger Trap-esque perfect indie pop punk and swooning boy girl vocals, and this was by far the best show I’ve ever seen them play. They are living proof that hardcore drummers should also always also be in indie pop bands (for the love of god there needs to be more bands like this!). For a band that is heavily influenced by Rose Melberg’s louder endeavors, you could tell they were nervous to be opening up for Go Sailor (conflict of interest note – I danced my ass off with the members of Sourpatch during Go Sailor’s set), but they channeled their nervous energy perfectly to produce a little slice of indie pop heaven. ” Limited to 500 copies in a silkscreen sleeve w/ digital download.

REPRESS
HHBTM119 – Sweater Girls “Do the Sweater” 7”
Smart, energetic and charming, Sweater Girls are a five-piece indiepop band from Los Angeles, CA. Touted as a “full band Softies” and a “calmer Black Tambourine” by Indie Pages, Sweater Girls aim to melt hearts with their knitted brand of sweet and tender tunes. 3 song 7″ limited to 300 copies and housed in a 2 color silkscreen sleeve SOLD OUT in one week. Limited different color sleeve 200 copy repress. comes with digital download.

UPCOMING
Currently at the plant is the new 7” by the Sweater Girls “Pretty When You Smile”. These should be here by the end of the month. I’ll come up with a pre-order and post about it shortly. Also going to the plant in the next week or two you’ll be able to pre-order shortly the new Marshmallow Coast CD with bonus goodies “Seniors and Juniors Strikes Back” , this is a rerecording of Andy’s famous “Seniors and Juniors” record but updated with new guest vocals, added tracks, and loads of drum machines and keyboards. You will also be able to pre-order the new 7” by the Afternoon Naps and the debut 7” by Orca Team. Oh who is Orca Team you might ask. It’s only one of your new favorite bands. Go use the internet and search for Orca Team and be prepared to wooed. Also going into the plant shortly look out for the complete OH OK on one full length LP which will feature their 7” & 12” plus bonus tracks. Also in the pipeline is Joe Jack Talcum “Home Recordings 84-97” LP so be on the lookout for that as well. It’s gonna be a busy winter.

IN STUDIO
Currently working on new albums: the Smittens, Casper & the Cookies, Forever, Orca Team, Hotpants Romance, Titans of Filth, Tunabunny, Fishboy, Bearsuit, and the Afternoon Naps. Look for an insane amount of releases in 2011.

ON OTHER LABELS
Afternoon Naps released a flexi 7” “Carl Wilson” on Single Piece Slate Label.
Bearsuit are releasing a new 7” & LP on Fortuna Pop.
Bunnygrunt have a new 7” coming out on Plastic Pancake.
Eux Autres will be self releasing their new LP.

Hey Folks,
Lots and lots of news…… I don’t even know where to start. I guess I should tell everyone that Leslie and I moved into a new cottage home back in late March only to be living in the house for a week to find out it has a rat problem. Yep rats……I know it’s gross. Long story short we were able to break the lease, and we are now packing and getting ready to move into a new place over the next week that’s a bit on the out skirts of Athens. So now instead of living only 2.1 miles from work I’ll live 5.2 miles away. There might not be many updates over the next 2 weeks, but i’ll be able to check email at work as far as questions and orders go. Anyway on with the news………..

NEW RELEASES
The SMITTENS “Coolest Thing About Love” LP
The Coolest Thing About Love LP pre-order copies shipped last week, so If you didn’t do the pre-order you missed all the bonus goodies that came along with the record. We do however have copies of the LP available to ship now though. It comes with a 3 color silkscreen sleeve and digital download.

The SWEATER GIRLS “Do the Sweater” 7″
Do the Sweater / Fingers Crossed / Haven’t Got a Clue three song debut EP by this smooth California 5 piece will be quick to be a hit on turntables all across the nation. Think the Softies, the Crystals, and the Marine Girls and you are getting close to the perfection that is this single. If the songs don’t charm you the 2 color silkscreen board stock sleeve w/ insert and digital download will. Get them while you can…..you might want to order a second copy for ebay.

COMING SOON
FLASH TO BANG TIME – “Lead Balloon” 7″ single is at the plant currently. For those in the know you know Flash to Bang Time as Lynda Stipe of Oh Ok’s current band. The special treat we get on this 3 song single is both Lynda Stipe and Linda Hopper (Magnapop) sing together for the first time on record since Oh Ok. This quirky Athens romper will be available in June or early July.

TUNABUNNY – “Tunabunny” LP is currently at the plant with a release date of late July. We are working on a mobile as a pre-order item. 15 songs in roughly 40 minutes by this Athens four piece that defies placement.

the SUPERIONS
Been loads of new Superions news and videos. please go to the www.happyhappybirthdaytome.blogspot.com BLOG to check out all the updates. The guys are currently working on a Christmas album, a Halloween 7″, and a full length record. There might even be a live performance at CMJ this fall.

SALE
I need to clear out some stock, and make some room for lots of the new releases that are coming up…so this works out great for you as it’s the annual HHBTM summer sale. These deals will run till the end of the month.
Singles Club Sale: $40.00 (that’s $25.00 off) this can be ordered direct from the site.
Buy One Get One FREE CD Sale: you will have to email me the CD’s you want then I will send you a paypal request. Go to the site and pick a free CD for each CD you purchase. (the lower priced CD is the free one: meaning you can’t buy an EP and get a free Full Length title). The buy one get one free CD also applies to distro titles.

ATHENS POPFEST line up will be announced next Friday May 21st at noon eastern time with early bird 4 day full festival tickets for $40 for one week only. After the first week the full passes will go up to $45. This year is our best line up yet, and the 4 day pass will be your best option as it will run over $70 to pay at the door for individual shows one by one. So 4 day passes will save you some money this time around.

I know this has taken forever to post, but we had some delays in the project, but now it’s time for the big news. HHBTM will be releasing “The Superions” EP by the Superions, the new project by Fred Schneider (of the B-52’s) , Noah Brodie, and Dan Marshall. The CD EP & 12” features 3 new originals “Totally Nude Island”, “Who Threw that Ham at Me”, and “Those Sexy Saucer Gals” along with 4 remixes by Ursula 1000, the Lolligags, Casper & the Cookies, and Marshmallow Coast. The tracks will be available digitally on January 19th, 2010, and the CD & 12” will be available on February 16th, 2010. HHBTM is currently taking pre-orders with many different package deals. You can order just the CD or 12”, or get them together, or together with a button and keychain, or the deluxe package that features, both the CD, the 12”, a button, a keychain, an autographed silkscreen sleeve, and a personal answering machine message by the Superions. You can check out the video for the Ursula 1000 remix of “Totally Nude Island” on the HHBTM blog, and there will be a video for “Who Threw That Ham at Me” shortly. All 12”s will come with a free digital download of the EP.

In other news, all the Sourpatch pre-orders on LP will ship on December 28th. Also all bonus pre-order stuff for the Sourpatch CD and LP is currently spoken for. They will be touring this spring and summer so hit them up via email or myspace and tell them to come to your town. Oh yeah, all the Sourpatch LP’s will come with a free digital download of the album. (Thanks Chris Mac for working out how to do that for us).

Cars Can Be Blue “All the Stuff We Do” is currently being repressed on LP with a mid February release date. The CD is nearly gone, so if you don’t have it, you better order it real soon.

The Smittens “The Coolest Thing About Love” is being pressed on vinyl this spring. A pre-order will be available at the end of January.

New in the distro:
v/a – Springsteen tribute – Play Some Pool, Skip Some School, Act Real Cool. DBL CD featuring (airport girl, eux autres, mj hibbett, the school, manhattan love suicides, and tons more)
Eux Autres – You’re Alight 7”
