"Parallel Plots" CDEP/LP [2006]

Patience Please are a pop band from Seattle, Washington. This story begins as a collaboration between Ray Proudfoot (vocals, guitar) and Keenan Dowers (rhodes and electric organ, vocals). The two went to high school together, during which time Keenan played bass for the Seattle/Bellingham band Paxil Rose. They worked together closely through the summer of 2005, until they came to the conclusion that their project needed more members- and a name. Jordan Michelman has played bass all his life, in suburban garage bands too numerous to name here. He wrote and recorded an EP during his sophomore year in high school as Last Flowers Till the Hospital. The three spent hours and hours playing together in Keenan's basement, working on Rays songs as well as new contributions from Jordan. Now all they needed was a drummer- and a name.

Chris McFarlane has written and recorded material as Suretoss for more than 10 years now, during which time they appeared on more than a dozen compilations and played throughout the northwest. Chris is also the founder of indiepages.com, a former member of Slomo Rabbit Kick, and the high powered CEO of Jigsaw Records.

Now complete, Patience Please began to hone their sound. They are highly influenced by--or wish they could sound and write songs like-- Elvis Costello and the Attractions, Superchunk, the Magnetic Fields, XTC, and the Weakerthans. Finally, after months of telling their friends to please, be patient while they chose their name, Keenan suggested they call the group Patience Please. For once, everyone agreed with her.

In April 2006 (National Panda Month) they recorded the "Parallel Plots" ep, due for release on September 12th (but you can buy it here). Guided by the immeasurable producing talents of Jackson Long (Racetrack) and realized at Hear Me Shimmer in Bellingham, this 5 song ep promises to be the best 14 minutes you've had all day.

In 2006, Patience Please recorded and released an EP through Jigsaw Records. We toured the country, played packed local shows in the northwest for the Vera Project and Three Imaginary Girls, and blushed each time KEXP played us on the radio. In early Fall 2007 our first LP will be released by Happy Happy Birthday To Me Records. We'll be touring the country again this summer, including shows at the Toledo Indie Popfest in late July and a return trip to the Athens Popfest in August.
