Fablefactory popped out on a warm night, May 1 1996 in Athens, Georgia. Yes, that's right, the old communist holiday, but don't hold it against them. Originally 3 members, Freckles le Chat, Davey Wrathgabar and Hank Wren, the band got more than their share of indie cred from their association with the sprawling Elephant 6 collective. But Fablefactory had a uniquely American feel. Jud Cost described the connection as "It's a mutual hybrid of skewed folk music and fairy-tale lyrics, meant to scare kids rather than rock them to sleep." The band released 2 singles, 2 formal albums, a collection of outtakes and single tracks. Fablefactory dissolved after completing their final record in 2001.
