"Calvin, don't jump!" is the work of J. Kirk Pleasant, who began this project in 1994 while living in Denver, CO. The songs are designed to provide hope among the despairing. The sound has been described as "weird folky, oblique lyrics". It tends to be multi-instrumental, but can be simple and is almost always acoustic. The music is mostly recorded at home on a great big 1/2" reel-to-reel 8-track. Occasionally, friends will play or take part in the recordings, though it's mostly a solo affair these days. Pleasant currently lives in Vancouver, B.C., is a practicing acupuncturist, and reiki master.
